oooh... another lovely morning...let's see... yesterday i did 1 corinth.7. it was on MARRIAGE, so i didn't really get much out of the whole thing, but one verse stood out and struck me hard as a very important reminder:
v 31:"...for this world in its present form is passing away."
what a good reminder that we have to CONSTANTLY glance at things and gaze at God. in a turbulent world, especially in the chaotic end times, it's so important to cling on tight to the Solid Rock. How do we do that? through spending time in quietness before Him. i know i've been like...harping on quiet time, quiet time, quiet time, but really, considering it all, QT is the most important thing in a Christian's walk with Christ. God places it above ministry, above missions, above everything else, because it is the FOUNDATION of who we are in Christ. if the foundations are weak, everything we build upon those foundations will likely collapse when the storm comes our way. and storms will come. uncertainty will come. doubt will come. because the world is always changing and therefore facts are always changing. But the TRUTH will never ever change. we need to dig into it, get it into our hearts, live it, share it.only then can we be so secure in changing times, because all our hope and trust is in the Unchanging, ever-faithful One.

1 Corinthians 8
V1: Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
- everytime we exalt our own knowledge,(including head knowledge of the word of God) we exalt ourselves. OUR intelligence. OUR wisdom. OUR understanding. But when we LOVE GOd,(the "action" of love, including worshipping HIm and spending time with Him) we exalt HIM. and in exalting Him, we build ourselves up by following in HIS footsteps and encouraging others to do so too.

v8: but food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
- speaks of religion i guess. following religious practices will not bring us nearer to God. what;s important is what happens in secret, when we are alone with Him.

V9: be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.
-never do anything that will cause your brother to fall. Look at Jesus. He could have been King of the World. He is God after all. but He set a good example to His followers by becoming the meekest of men, humbling Himself and choosing to serve rather than be served. what more we? if anything i do becomes a stumbling block to others and an obstacle between them and God, God forbid that i do those things.

Dear Lord, give me a sensitive heart to perceive what is right and what is not. i thank You for the freedom You have given me, that i don't have to be bound any longer by religion and fearful routine, but that i can be free because of the ransom You paid. Yet keep my freedom in check that i might truly be free to do Your will. Let me be a stepping stone and not a stumbling block. Cause me to WANT to do good, not out of religious practice, but out of a desire to please and exalt the One who redeemed me. Amen.
